My Mandate

Project 2027 Mandate – Tyler, MYP Candidate

Project 2027 exists because too many students feel trapped, unheard, and frustrated by a school system that is outdated, unfair, and inconsistent. My mandate is clear: by the end of 2027, Dorset schools will have a behaviour system that works for students, supports staff, and prioritises both academic success and mental wellbeing.

To achieve this, Project 2027 will:

  • Completely abolish after-school detentions – Punishments should never extend beyond school hours. Students already spend up to seven hours in school. That is enough.
  • End isolation practices – Replace them with supportive alternatives that keep students engaged in learning. I will work with schools to find a different and effective away.
  • Introduce proper reward systems – Systems that recognise effort and achievement, kept entirely separate from punishments, so positivity stands on its own.
  • Reform homework for Years 7–9, Scrap unnecessary homework to reduce stress and improve engagement.
  • Reduce suspensions across Dorset – By creating fairer, more consistent behaviour systems that actually work.
  • Work with schools, councils, governing boards, and students – Collaborating directly to design, trial, and refine improved behaviour systems in selected schools before wider rollout.
  • Put student wellbeing at the centre – Schools should thrive not just in exams, but in mental health, fairness, and support.
  • I will aim to visit every school in Dorset to meet with Headteachers, Teachers and Students to get other peoples perspective.

This mandate is not about empty promises. It is about real, structured reform. Project 2027 is a student-led movement, and will be supported by ambassadors, a Deputy Executive Director, a trusted Special Advisor, and professional guidance, all focused on delivering change.

This will take time, and it will need all the support people are willing to give. Some will doubt me. Some will say it can’t be done. But change never begins in comfort. Dorset is where we start. Dorset is where we lead. Stand with Project 2027—and together, we will show the nation what real school reform looks like.
