Project 2027 Manifesto – Tyler, MYP Candidate
Introduction
I’m Tyler: Founder and CEO of Project 2027, and I’m running to be MYP for Dorset because the current school system is failing too many students. Too often, schools prioritise punishment over learning, and mental wellbeing is overlooked. Students feel trapped, unheard, and unsupported. Project 2027 is my plan to change that. I believe schools can thrive in academics and mental health; Dorset can lead the way.
Project 2027 envisions schools where:
- Students are listened to, supported, and motivated.
- Discipline is fair, consistent, and never punitive outside school hours.
- Achievement is rewarded positively, kept separate from punishments.
- Mental health is valued equally to exam results.
- Schools collaborate with students, staff, and councils to create lasting improvements.
- Project 2027 will be built as a team – with a Executive Director, Ambassadors, a trusted Special Advisor and adults evaluating the process. I will oversee everything that happens, making sure every action aligns with our goals and delivers real change.
Mandate:
By the end of 2027, Project 2027 will:
- Abolish after-school detentions completely – no punishments beyond school hours.
- End isolation practices – replace them with supportive alternatives that keep students engaged.
- Introduce proper reward systems – recognising effort and achievement, separate from punishments.
- Reform homework for Years 7–9 – reduce stress and increase engagement.
- Reduce suspensions across Dorset – with fairer, more consistent systems.
- Work collaboratively with schools, councils, governing boards, and students to trial and implement improved behaviour systems.
- Prioritise student wellbeing – creating environments where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Student-led initiatives – Ambassadors and a Executive Director will help guide and implement projects under my oversight.
- Professional guidance – Special Advisors, Advocates, Social Workers, Psychotherapists, and Operational Managers will ensure plans are realistic and effective.
- Collaboration – Working directly with schools and councils to trial systems, gather feedback, and refine approaches before full rollout.
- Transparency and accountability – I will oversee all actions, and students and staff will be able to see progress, give input, and hold Project 2027 accountable.
Call to Action
This will take a lot of effort and a lot of time. There will be steps backward, challenges, and moments when it feels like progress is slow but I promise that by the end of 2027, I will have done everything in my power to deliver on this mandate. Some will doubt me, but only the ones that obviously don't know me and my determination. Some will say it can’t be done. But change never begins in comfort. Dorset is where we start. Dorset is where we lead. Stand with Project 2027—and together, we will show the nation what real school reform looks like.
